GGG Members are given access to the Members Area of this web site, which includes:
a) the ability to contact other members via email
b) a New Member Packet, full of useful information to kick start a new member's research or to reinvigorate an experienced researcher
c) the Surname List with the ability to contact other Members directly
d) copies of all previous newsletters, searchable by topic
e) handouts and recordings of meeting presentations
f) guides to learning how to read German script
g) Mentoring & Translation service - for GGG Members ONLY
* Help Desk
Before each meeting experts are available to help you over the brick wall. Stop by their table and discuss your genealogy problem and see what advice they offer you.
* Book Library
Members may borrow books and/or magazines from our extensive collection (only at GGG meetings; not by mail). A copy of the library book list is in the “Members Area” section of the website.
* CD Library
Members may borrow CD’s at monthly meetings or via postal mail. There is a $1.00 mailing and handling fee per CD when borrowing by mail. A return envelope is provided, but return postage is the responsibility of the borrower. A copy of the CD list is in the “Members Area” section of the website.
We offer a mentoring service for GGG Members who may be new to genealogy or are stuck and in need of guidance. The mentor does not do the research for you but will work with you and suggest methods that worked in their own research.
We offer a translation service for GGG Members for when they have a genealogical record that requires translation or extraction.
* GGG Forum
The GGG Forum is available for GGG Members to post a genealogy-related question. Other GGG Members may respond to your question.
* Surname Matching
Our Surname list has over 1000 entries. Members are able to directly contact other Members regarding matching surnames.
* Member Owned Books
The member section of our web site has a list of books owned by Members. Members are willing to do simple look-ups for other members in these books to help them further their research.
* German Life Magazine
A discount subscription to German Life Magazine is available to all Members.
Part of the fun of being a Member of the GGG is participation in outside events with other Members. Participate in our cemetery crawl, tours, Steuben Day Parade, genealogy events, spring and fall dinners and Bavarian festivals.
* Meeting Handouts
Copies of handouts from presentations by speakers at our meetings are available on this web site exclusively for our Members.
* Meeting Audio and Video Recordings (MP3/MP4 files)
Audio recordings of presentations by speakers at our meetings are available on this web site exclusively for our Members.
* Membership Cost
Membership costs only $15.00 per year; less than 30¢ a week!!
